ABU DHABI, 1st July, 2022 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS) kicked off today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the ideal indoor summer environment for sports and physical activities.

Organised in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), the event will continue until 31st August, with the goal of encouraging people to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports was launched during an opening ceremony attended by senior officials from several government agencies in Abu Dhabi. Distinguished guests from the private and public sector included Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development; Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of ADSC; Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC.

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports is supported by gold sponsors, including Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, and Drops, an advanced ecommerce platform that features all traditional retail categories.

ADSS, the largest of its kind in the region, will provide an ideal environment for sports in Abu Dhabi during summer and reinforce the Emirate’s role in supporting sports through its many world-class facilities. Consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as the sports capital of the region sports are increasingly becoming an integral part of sustainable lifestyles.

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports provides exceptional venues for people to play sports with air-conditioned indoor courts, with more than 25 tracks and courts set up according to the highest standards, with an overall area covering over 27,000 square meters. The event also includes side activities for individuals, groups, families, and sports fans.

ADSS features a diverse range of activities and courts within Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, with three 7-player football fields, two 5-player football courts, eight Padel tennis courts, three basketball courts, three badminton courts, three volleyball courts, one cricket court, a CrossFit track, and a 1-km running track.

Visitors can enjoy walking the 1-km track for free throughout the event. Halls 8 to 12 have been converted into basketball, football, cricket, tennis, and badminton courts and are open to sports fans on weekdays from 13:00 to 1:00.
