Just before noon on Sunday, the next head coach of the Florida Gators football team landed in Gainesville. Billy Napier (Billy Napier) met with the audience, including the Crocodile Band, Pride of the Sun.

Another crowd of dozens of fans was waiting for him at the Benhill Griffin Stadium. Shakers are provided for those who wish to stand on the red carpet of the Florida Gators version. People of all ages wear orange and blue. Some people waited more than an hour before the scheduled arrival time in Napier.

"He's coming," a woman screamed as a white van led a row of cars driving south on Gale Lemerand Drive. The van turns so that the passenger side faces the entrance of the stadium.

The crowd started chanting, "Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy."

The door opened and Napier walked out to the applause of the crowd. His first move was to do a crocodile bite. Everyone joins.

His family got out of the car and walked with him to Benhill Griffin Stadium. The crowd chanted, "It's great to be a Florida Gator."

While walking, Napier stopped to shake hands and take a selfie. It usually takes almost 120 seconds to walk to the door for 10 seconds without an audience. He tried to say hello as much as possible.

Just after 4:30 pm, Florida State Sports Director Scott Stricklin introduced Napier to the media. Napier talked about his excitement as the next head coach of the Gators.

Now, the former Louisiana coach has previously rejected the SEC school's acceptance letter, so of course the question of why he chose Florida. Napier said that part of the reason was that he felt he had not completed the work he started at Ragin' Cajuns before this year. At the same time, the correct call came.

"So, it's at the right time, right place, right people, [right] leadership," Napier said.

Another reason Napier chose Florida was the school's willingness to invest-he said this was one of the most important factors for him.

Napier stated that there will be a year-round development plan, with eight specific stages in each part of the year.

The quick version given at the press conference is as follows:

Each stage has its own goals and objectives. There is a sense of urgency at every stage. With each stage, the recruitment calendar is divided into six stages. Napier did not specify the recruitment stage. However, he did elaborate on the upcoming early signing day. He emphasized the need to be patient in the early stages of recruitment.

Napier admitted that there are not many opportunities to sign with the Gators during this period. One of the reasons is because they started too late. "It's like entering a game with three minutes left in the fourth quarter."

Another reason he added is that an important part of recruitment is to build a relationship, and both parties understand the future. Time does not allow.

He said: "I think this is unfair to them, and it is also unfair to us. All of a sudden, I eloped here at the last second."

The goal now is to establish the right staff and arrange the positions of the Alligators after signing the contract, to see which players are left, and the players in the transfer portal.

When asked about the game plan for next season, especially the game plan, Napier said he has not gone that far. He now wants to focus on cultivating his employees and proceed gradually until he starts on-site operations.

While introducing the next head coach, it was also announced that Florida will face the UCF of the Gasparilla Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Interim head coach Greg Knox will still be in charge of the Alligators on December 23 for the final game of the 2021 season.
