Sports: A brand new stadium has officially opened in Kathu, providing local residents with a place for local residents to exercise and develop their sports skills.

Kathu Municipal Stadium consists of a football field with international quality standards and a synthetic track that can be used for track and field sports. It has been certified by the Thai Athletic Association and is the second stadium in Phuket that can accommodate both indoor and outdoor sports.

Last Sunday (December 5) Father’s Day, Phuket Deputy Governor Pichet Panaphong presided over a Buddhist ceremony to officially open the stadium.

Picchet praised the Kathu Municipal Government for its focus on supporting and improving the quality of sports facilities to meet national standards in order to help continue to develop national sports activities and skills.

Picchet said that in addition to being a place for residents of Kathu to exercise, the venue can also host national and international events. He added that it provides an excellent opportunity for the children and residents of Kathu to practice and develop their skills to become professional athletes.

The mayor of Kathu, Chaianan Suthikul, also attended the opening ceremony. He confirmed that the construction cost of the site exceeded 40 million pesos. He added that the construction only lasted more than two years, and an additional 5,000-seat amphitheater could be built to accommodate the audience.

"The health of citizens is a top priority, so it is very important to allocate a sports area for people," the mayor Chaianan commented.

"This new stadium will provide a good place for people to exercise and improve their health, especially for children and young people to practice and develop their sports skills. It is also a place to promote excellence in sports and sports tourism at the provincial, national and international levels. ," he added.
