Including garden gnomes, fake grass and bird feeders...

New research reveals the best and worst garden trends ever-it seems that the British like bird feeders and vegetable gardens, but prefer to avoid plastic gnomes and fake grass.

A poll of 2,000 adults with gardens commissioned by Draper Tools found that 4 out of 10 people regretted some of their garden design decisions. At the same time, 83% of people think they have an impeccable taste in outdoor space.

Some of the most popular trends include water features, outdoor lights, summer houses and hanging baskets, while plastic accessories, hot tubs and bird statues are the worst trends.

Draper Tools Marketing Director Kev Smith said: "This study shows that we are passionate about our gardens-obviously, the people surveyed have very strong opinions on what works and what is not."

"However, a garden is a very personal thing. What is suitable for one person is not necessarily suitable for another, so if you are satisfied with your garden, that is the most important thing. But it is indeed very attractive— It’s also kind of fun-finding out what people like and what they don’t like."
