The Chandigarh Football Association (CFA) is ignoring regulations and is organizing a futsal championship on the open artificial turf.
On Sunday, Stephen FC defeated 11 FC 12-0, while Liberty FC defeated IFC-38 with 5 goals. Rajeshwar FC defeated SFC 3-2 3-2.
The competition is being held on the artificial turf of the Sector 44 school here. CFA is organizing the Chandigarh Club Futsal Championship for the club.
According to the guidelines of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), futsal matches must be played on hard courts. The goal size of futsal is 3mx2m, foul limit (penalty after the 5th foul) and other rules .
The game is usually played in an indoor arena.
Although CFA Chairman KP Singh could not comment, experts suggested that the event should be held in an indoor stadium.
"There are many indoor sports fields under UT that can be used to organize this event. Some of the multifunctional halls in the complex could have been turned into temporary futsal stadiums," a coach said.
"The arena will be provided to the association for free. All they have to do is move the goal posts, mark the playing field and some other changes. Even in Delhi, the same events are held in the indoor arena," the coach added.
AIFF has introduced futsal in the "E-level certificate course" for coaches, focusing on training level football coaches.
Futsal is also promoted in the Golden Baby League, which is a project for children in the U-6 and U-12 categories.
