Historic Documents - Historic New England - Gail White Usher

What is original material, and how do I work with it to better understand people, places, and events? This program will examine original documents, one of the categories of original materials that can be gateways to a better connection to people of the past. We will look at the 1644 Indenture of Service of Maria in Fort Amsterdam, New Netherland to practice investigative techniques that are useful in teasing information from a document.

This online program is sponsored by the American Library Association Humanities Grant.
