It looks like Shaq will keep his bolt hole in Sin City, at least for a little while longer. The 7’1″ basketball Hall of Famer and on-air NBA analyst has taken his Las Vegas area estate off the market in the wake of his son Shareef signing a six-figure deal to play for the Henderson-based NBA G League team Ignite.

The blue stucco home, in an unincorporated area of Las Vegas, north of Henderson, was listed at $3 million before it was abruptly removed from the market. That move has generated speculation that the NBA legend turned pitchman and entrepreneur, who has strong business ties to Las Vegas — he’s co-owner of the Big Chicken sandwich shop east of the Strip, will spend more time there in light of his son’s professional contract. O’Neal paid $1.95 million for the estate only just over a year ago.

The estate lies 4.5-miles south of the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, where Ignite plays, and 4.8 miles east of Harry Reid International Airport. Also not too far from Wayne Newton’s former estate, the two-story gated home sits on a 1.1-acre lot and measures in at about 5,900 square feet. Built in 1993 and recently remodeled at a cost of more than $750,000, it has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a three-car garage.

Italianate columns flank the double-door entrance that leads into an open-concept home with multiple seating areas, a fireplace, and a formal dining room where there’s a large, colorfully painted portrait of the home’s owner. O’Neal’s bedroom is on the main floor, and accessible behind a secret panel door. Like the rest of the house, the room is replete with trophies, framed basketball pictures and other memorabilia.

Upstairs, a gallery-style walkway links the newly renovated guest and family bedrooms. There’s also a private balcony that overlooks the backyard, with its brand-new swimming pool and hot tub, putting green and built-in barbecue. A poolside casita provides extra space for entertaining and/or overnight guests.

“This is an extraordinary property with incredible attention to detail and appointments for a luxurious and elegant lifestyle,” according to Stacy Conner,  vice president of the sports and entertainment division for Corcoran Global Living and Shaq’s real estate agent at the time the home was listed.

Shaq previously and briefly owned another house in Las Vegas before buying the one near Henderson. He spends most of his time in Atlanta, however, where TNT is headquartered and he owns a 14-plus-acre spread in McDonough, about 30 miles outside of town. Two years ago, after several years on and off the market at declining prices, Shaq sold his eccentric Florida megamansion for $11 million, and earlier this year he dropped $1.225 million on a large home in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton.
