After over a year since Trimble County acquired new playground equipment for the county park, the funding has been granted to install it with rubber mulch.

LG&E purchased the playground equipment for the county, under the agreement that the county would pay for the pour in place rubber mulch for the area.

“The expense of the pour in place rubber was a bit steep for the county so I worked with a representative from the local ADD [Area Development District] to apply for a state grant to help cover the cost of the mulch,” Trimble County Judge-Executive Todd Pollock told the Trimble Banner “Unfortunately, we did not get that grant award last year.”

Without the grant, the equipment was stored to the disappointment of many in the community.

This year, Pollock worked again with the ADD to apply for the grant again. On May 30, Pollock announced that Trimble County was awarded a $53,000 grant for the rubber mulch through the Kentucky Department of Waste Management.

“I apologize for this project taking so long but I can assure you new playground equipment construction will begin following Little League season,” Pollock wrote on Facebook.
