Why were McRae tennis courts taken away? | News, Sports, Jobs - The Alpena News

So why in the hell did they take away the tennis courts at McRae? They could have left one court for the tennis court. That tennis court was used. Didn’t need to put all pickleball courts in. Was this voted on or ever brought up? Then you wonder why Alpena never grows and people vandalize — very stupid move Alpena.

What was wrong with taking half the basketball courts at McRae for the pickleball? What was wrong with doing half and half, leaving one tennis court for tennis players or what was wrong with the donors you had to put up pickleball new courts? Really what a slap in the face to the north side. I’ve lived on this side of town for 46 years, and grew up playing tennis and always played on that court.

Just the other day, I took four kids there with their new tennis rackets and there was no tennis court. It was wrong what was done and wrong what the city did. I used to watch McRae for vandalism — no more. I don’t blame the youth for what they do. It’s very unfair and one-sided what you do to the youth these days.

Alpena will not continue to grow and it will only become worse with violence due to the stupidity of the adults in Alpena. I hope you post the other side to this story — 100% wrong for not leaving a tennis court on the north side. You have a lot of youth over here.
